Mitra Phukan is an Assamese vocalist of the Hindustani classical music tradition, a writer, music critic and columnist. She is the author of several children’s books, and her first novel, The Collector’s Wife (Zubaan–Penguin 2005), was critically acclaimed. Her works, including her short stories, have been translated into several languages.
